Fiji Kids Charity Supports Government Education Plans
A charity organisation in Sigatoka supported by local and international corporate bodies continues to complement the Government’s plans for the education sector.
The organisation celebrates its 10th year anniversary of “Back to School” and a total of 150 students received their stationery packs and basic food items at St Joan of Arc School in Sigatoka yesterday.
Seniveva Tirau, 34 of Vunarewa in Mavua, will send her five nieces and nephews to Nabitu Primary School this year.
“This is the first time we are receiving this assistance. Since my nieces and nephews mum left them it has been hard,” she said.
“With the assistance given here will go a long way. No doubt the government of the day has taken care of bus fare and fees. A big thank you to Fiji Kids to assist in giving us this.”
Fiji Kids founder Julie Hoskison said, “We are proud of assisting the children of Nadroga-Navosa for 10 years”.
“This is our 10th back to school day. On this day all of these students we support come to town and they get all their school supplies. They have games, barbecue and it’s a celebration before going back to school,” she added.
Ms Hoskison said some of the students did not have a breadwinner in the family.
The charity partnered Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort human resources department as part of its community project for the year.
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort Human Resources Director Ashneel Chand said, “We host all the sponsors for Fiji Kids and all the children that are being assisted by this group”.
