Cyclone Gita: Are Money Transfer Companies Offering a Reduced Fee to Send to Tonga?

Here is a summary with the latest information we have on special pricing or network information from companies offering money transfer services to Tonga:


ANZ Australia

ANZ Australia are waiving their International Money Transfer fee to Tonga and Samoa for payments made via their internet banking channel. This fee waiver will be in place until 31st of March 2018.


ANZ New Zealand

ANZ New Zealand has waived the fee for an international money transfer (IMT) Tonga, Samoa, and American Samoa. This applies to payments sent via Internet Banking and goMoney (Android only) until March 31st.
In addition, ANZ New Zealand recently made some changes to their standard IMT fees for payments to the Pacific
Customer making an IMT on ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ goMoney will only pay a $7 fee for payments to Fiji, Cook Islands, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands. This matches the $7 fee we already have in place for payments to Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.


‘Ave Pa’anga Pau

The ‘Ave Pa’anga Pau service continues to offer a zero fee service from New Zealand. More information on this service can be found by following this link:


Klickex New Zealand

KlickEx New Zealand - all fees reduced to zero for every service ( and



MoneyGram - offering a zero fee to anyone sending from Australia and New Zealand to Tonga, until 2nd March 2018.
Customers in Tonga can pick up cash at Bank of South Pacific & MBF Bank branches.


Western Union

Western Union - offering zero fees for all services (cash to cash, POLI to cash, credit/debit to cash, and for Australia only, App Initiated at Retail services) to anyone sending from any country to Tonga, until 31st March 2018.
